Dear friends,

There is a line in a Woody Allen film that asks the question, “How do you make God laugh?”

The answer is, “You tell Him your plans.”

From time to time it can seem to us that God must be having quite a laugh at the plans we make for ourselves.  In the last month we have found ourselves as a Church being led forward in a different way than we would have planned or wished for.  But through the surprises in our lives – be they those that unsettle us or liberate us, we are assured of God’s presence if only we obey.

The prophet Jeremiah puts it this way: ‘For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.’

For all who are prepared to seek God’s will – and do it – these words give great hope.  As we pray and seek God’s will, let’s make sure we are those who can find hope in this; even if from time to time we go on making God laugh.
